I live in the uk and me and my boyfriend want to move to san fran, what type of visa would we need? |
Travel Info i intend to work over there and my boyfriend is thinking of studying over there too. is there anything that would make it easier to get excepted for a visa? Travel Tips A high limit Visa or Master Card because everything is really really expensive there. Be ready too, they don't like Brits. Gays, transvestites are ok. Course you guys can see first hand what good medical and dental care is. Not a trace of it over there. Others Good luck with the move! Immigration is a very complex process. My husband is American and emigrated to Scotland to live here with me, but we did investigate the possibility of me going over there. The type of visa you need depends on your circumstances. If you are both British I believe that you will need to go through the employment route, i.e. you get a job out there and your employer applies for the visa on your behalf. If one of you is American then you can use a K3 spousal visa and your children can use K4 visas. There are also visas available for students, retirees etc. The best place to look is: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis... This is the link to the US immigration services website. GOOD LUCK! Experience It really isnt as simple as just getting a visa if it was I would be first in line. You need to make enquiries at the American Embassy etc but trust me it wont be an easy ride. Lots of red tape and 9 times out of 10 disappointment. Doing it legally is very difficult. You can come for 90 days without a visa, so just come over and then don't go home. We have lots of illegal immigrants here so as long as you are not middle-eastern you should not draw attention. Getting visas can be a long and complected process. You need to find an employer willing to sponsor you, studying as an international student is very expensive, about 拢5,000 + every year, that depends on the University and subject (UCLA costs $44,000 minimum per year) If you can make it you'll love it. Depending on where you go it can be a lot cheaper than Britain, plus the weather is much better too. GL Don't know about visa's but think you both need your heads looking at. If you do get there go down to the waterfront and see if 'Frisco Paddy' is still in business |
