Travel Info are there any batiful and warm lakes in califronia? with boat access Travel Tips Clear Lake is the largest natural lake in California is a great place to go boating or fishing. It's located just north of the Sonoma County and Napa Valley wine country. It's a great lake and very warm in summer. Lakeport is a great little small town along the lake to visit and there is plenty of boat access along the shore too. This is probably one of my favorite lakes to go to in CA and the fishing is the best in CA. Lake Sonoma is a really nice and good sized lake to spend that day at. About 20 miles west of Clear Lake is Lake Mendocino in Ukiah. It's a a nice lake to go boating and there are campgrounds there too,but it's not as big as Lake Sonoma or Clear Lake. And there are tons of wineries in the area too if you want to go wine tasting. The closest good lake to the Bay Area would probably be Lake Berryessa. It's a pretty popular lake since it's close to Sacramento and the Bay Area so it might get a little crowded. Lake Shasta is huge and has a longer shoreline than SF Bay but is a pretty far drive from the Bay Area. It's a great place to go camping, hiking, and boating for the weekend. Lake Tahoe is the most beautiful lake in CA and there is tons to do around the area including gambling but it's not exactly the warmest lake either since it's an alpine lake. Lake Almanor is nice and has boat access! Been there many times! I second Clear Lake north of Napa Valley. It's so beautiful and trust me, it'll be very warm right now. Don't take 20, go up 29 through Calistoga. It's wind-y, but better than risking your life on 20 from Healdsburg. Don't go to Berryessa on a holiday. They've put a moratorium on any kind of fun, boating, camping on holidays. |
