Bus from San Francisco to Tahoe, to snowboard in the winter? |
Travel Info Is there any how to get to Tahoe from SF in the winter to snowboard? I am thinking about moving there so i need to know. ie. here in NYC the burton store or local board shops runs their own buses to the mountains over the weekend, early morning they leave the city and come back in the evening, and it's a really good deal. Anything like that in SF? Travel Tips Greyhound SnowBomb http://www.snowbomb.com/trips/bustrips.p... Others I used to live in Reno and went to San Fran often. You can take I-80 all the way (once you cross the Bay Bridge) to Reno and go up to Tahoe that way or you can get off of I-80 in Sacramento and take Hwy 50 to Tahoe. Which part of Tahoe are you going to (South Lake Tahoe or Stateline)? Stateline is in NV and is on the north end of the lake and South Lake Tahoe is in CA. Highway is a good road - but just know that in the winter, if it snows really bad you will have chain restrictions (regardless of the type of vehicle you drive normally) and both roads are known to close for periods of time until they are able to clear it. So, you could get stuck there for longer than you intend if you don't pay attention to the weather and get out of there in time. We used to see travelers getting stuck in Reno all the time when they closed I-80 over Donner Pass. I don't know of any shuttles though that take you over. Good luck! |
