Hi, can you recommend the best places to live in san fransisco.?

Travel Info
Me and my girlfriend want the safest, gay friendly areas to live which you can get a property for about $280,000 ish-give or take. easy access and not too touristy although close enough to take part in the fun.....all answers welcome...thanks in advance :)

Travel Tips
Zion's right, you're going to have to look in the east bay which means less gay friendly I'm afraid. And think 1 bedroom condos, you won't find a house for that price anywhere you'd want to live (in the bay area).
Others
probably the Castro, but most of SF is gay friendly or at least tolerant. you aren't going to find anything for that low. buying in SF is anything but cheap. look at classifieds for houseing, but better be sitting down.
there is nothing for 280k in sf...the lowest is 700k.and that is the louzy neighborhoods
You're not going to find anything in that price range in SF. Median housing is about $700,000, with condos running about $400,000.
The Castro is gay-friendly, but not exactly the best place to live safely. Don't go to Richmond. Or Haight. Sunset might be OK, but anyway you look at it, 280K won't buy anything. Look at a remote suburb for lower housing costs.

Napa is tolerant of gays. A bit. I thought they would be more. But there's no gay bashing here. But a condo here will set you back $300K+ for a decent place. A house is $500K+. The housing is crazy, but at least gay people can exist without fear.

Best of luck hon.
First off, its San Francisco, not Fransisco. Second, there is no way at all you can get something anywhere near the Bay Area for $280k, maybe 15 years ago you could, but not now. SF is the most gay tolerant place around, perhaps anywhere. Berkeley is very tolerant as well. You might want to rent somewhere in the East Bay for a couple years until you can scratch together some more money for a down payment on something. Bernal Heights in SF has a large lesbian population and is relatively safe.
Russian Hill if you can afford it. I think it's kind of pricey but close to the bay and Lombard.
