Any decent Mexican restaurants in the East Bay area? |
Travel Info I just moved to Danville from the East coast and have always loved Mexican food. I always figured that I'd been getting cheated, being in New England, from getting really good Mexican food, so when I got transfered out here for the summer I figured I'd be in Mexican Food Valhala. IT AIN'T SO! I've been to 3 or 4 places out here between Danville and Walnut Creek and they all SUCK......BAD! Any idea's on decent food and a decent margarita places within 10-15 miles of Danville? I'M DYING HERE! Travel Tips Poor thing. I love Mexican food. There is a ton of great food in East Bay. Fruitvale District in Oakland is like being in Mexico. Do you want Tex-Mex, Authentic, and/or greasy/cheesy plate places? I like the tamales from the tamale cart at International Blvd and High Street (right in front of Smart and Final) and her Atole Arroz is good too....Yum. I go there on Sundays. Not the type of neighborhood you linger in, but good food. Near fruitvale BART area there are many authentic taco joints on International too. La Pinata III in Alameda is good and they have all you can eat brunch on Sundays. Juan's in Berkeley is infamous for goey plates of food. Ask for the flour chips too. Taqueria Alameda (being renovated) is good as is Taqueria Los Gallos in Newark. Look on chowhound.com for tips from other eaters! Others sorry.. not sure about danville san ramon area but out here in san jose, i would recommend carlos goldstein. Chevys pretty much serves decent food everywhere. did you try it? you could go to el tratoria in downtowm san jose for great cheap mex food. good luck Not sure how far you are from Livermore (it's just down Tassajara Rd, then up 580 East a bit) but Casa Orozco on 3rd an M St is pretty good. Or you could try the Blue Agave Club in downtown Pleasanton. Both are pretty good : ) I lived in Livermore and worked in Danville for many years : ) |
