San francisco airport bart station?

i'm meeting a friend at the san francisco air port bart station and i was wondering how far into the air port do they allow you to go if you don't have a ticket or anything? i'm trying to figure out a good location to meet my friend and we will be barting

Is your friend on an international or domestic flight and which airline? The BART station ends at the international terminal (I think at the side where United Airlines fly in/out for its international flights) but you access the domestic areas by AirTrain from the BART. If coming in from an international flight, go to the arrivals level, so you can meet them as they come out of customs. If the domestic terminals, you can meet them right before the security checkpoint (you can't go through without a ticket). I think there's some seating for meeters and greeters. When all else fails, you can page the person using any courtesy telephone located throughout the terminals.

If you are travelling locally within the US than meet the person at the baggage claim. If you are an internatinal traveller than best location will be outside the customs exit.

How are you getting out to the airport without a ticket?

Since you might not have a BART ticket, tell your friend you will meet him/her near the ticket machines.

Meeting at the huge SFO is tough -- especially if either or both parties are not familiar with the airport. It's huge. Don't tell anyone you'll meet them at a certain coffee bar or restaurant because some vendors have more than one outlet at the airport.

Be sure you both have your cell phones on you.
We just met some relatives and --- finally after much running around like people without heads --- only able to come together at their airline ticket counter area.
