What's the name of this historical house/building in San Francisco? |
Travel Info It is on top of a hill in the city between two expensive hotels and it is a terracotta color. Travel Tips if it is this one: http://www.noehill.com/show_picture.asp?... the one on the far left it is the pacific union club. i'm not sure what it is though. actually here is a description and a pic: http://www.noehill.com/sf/landmarks/nat1... I hope that was the building you are talking about. Others I found this: After viewing this historic building, reverse direction and head west 1陆 blocks up Sutter to the fanciful beaux-arts-style Hammersmith Building, on the southwest corner of Sutter Street and Grant Avenue. In the middle of the next block, at 450 Sutter, stands a glorious 1928 art-deco skyscraper, a masterpiece of terra-cotta and other detailing; handsome Maya-inspired designs adorn its exterior and interior surfaces. From here, backtrack a half block east to Stockton Street and take a right. In front of the Grand Hyatt hotel sits Ruth Asawa's Fantasy Fountain. Union Square is a half block south on Stockton. http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresul... 450 Sutter is downtown and a skyscraper, indeed. I think you might mean Nob Hill with the Mark Hopkins (the tall, red one) and Fairmont Hotels. Check this picture and see if it's what you're remembering: http://www.inetours.com/images/hotels/bi... The trouble is, it's been sooooooo many years since I lived in SF that I can't remember any building between them. I do know they used to be ever so upscale. |
