Travel Info I'm going to San Francisco for a week! What is there to do? Travel Tips a local spot is ocean beach, dont buy stuff in tourist areas Others that hotel is right in the center of the city so there are tons of things to do around there. Nearby Points of Interest Powell Street cable car - 0.5 block San Francisco Centre (shopping) - 1 block (great shopping) Union Square - 2 blocks Theater District - 3 blocks Moscone Convention Center - 3 blocks Yerba Buena Gardens - 3 blocks San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - 4 blocks Embarcadero - 5 blocks Asian Art Museum - 6 blocks Chinatown - 7 blocks AT&T Park - 8 blocks North Beach - 1.5 miles Ghirardelli Square - 2 miles Fisherman鈥檚 Wharf - 2 miles (must go here) really fun. Fisherman's Wharf is both a "tourist trap" and a place to see amazing street entertainers, eat excellent seafood, watch sea lions, and go to the Aquarium Marine Museums and exhibits. Presidio Golf Club - 4 miles Golden Gate Bridge - 6 miles Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! San Francisco is great some other stuff to see and do Alcatraz Island Angel Island Golden Gate Park Golden Gate Bridge Harbor tours http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qsc... for more stuff go here http://wikitravel.org/en/san_francisco#s... go to Fisherman's Wharf. they have all sorts of neat things to see and buy! also check out the shopping district in SF. check out the below website: http://www.unionsquareshop.com/... i hope you have a fantabulous time there! The internet is a fantastic tool to find out what's near you. Check expedia.com's map feature, type in the address, and see what comes up in the map provided that's nearby (hotels, clubs, etc.). Check out traveladvisor.com and find out what others say about the hotel you're staying at and what's nearby. You can even call the hotel and ask the conceirge what's going on the week you're there and can they recommend anything. Check out your local bookstore and find books on San Francisco, get a map of the city to familiarize yourself with where Chinatown is, Fisherman's Wharf, Nob Hill, and start strategizing where you will go. Fisherman's Wharf has a boat that leaves every hour to go to Alcatraz. Check that out, it's spooky great. Then there's Chinatown, it's like, literally, a whole other world. Nob Hill is pretty but that's about it. It can be a bit of a walker's city like Manhattan, but you really should do some research, the information's out there and readily available! The Major League allstar game and homerun derby next week When we went - although many years ago, we had a great time. Went to Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf and also visited the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum. Great bars and interesting town. (I'm from Australia) |
