Don't stay in Carmel. Go over the hill to Monterey and find a nice motel on Muras Street. (There are many, everything from Best Westerns to Comfort Inns, etc.) You're more centrally located, between Carmel, Monterey, and Pacific Grove. Fisherman's Wharf and downtown are a nice walk down the hill. You'll save enough money on your lodging to eat in all the best restaurants in Carmel and Cannery Row. Don't miss Toasties for breakfast/weekend brunch on Lighthouse Ave. in Pacific Grove!
