From what I read about self-cleaning the mold, vinegar (non-toxic) works the best. Second option is bleach. You can read more about bleach and other substances at the link below. The yellow pages has a list of professionals who can clean it for you. From what I read online, they say, make sure they are licensed mold cleaners, and use a proper methods of mold remediation. Also, important thing to make sure is that if you are not satisfied, they will refund the money or redo the cleaning for you. Call them up to find out more about their service and rates. Btw, the dept. of health wouldn't do anything to clean the mold for you. They might be able to recommend you some cleaners but they don't clean the mold up themselves.
