Going to napa on a budget? |
Travel Info where to stay? close to wine train Travel Tips If you want to go on the wine train and want to be within walking distance AND you are on a budget - I would suggest the Best Western in Napa - its actually a really nice looking hotel and is walking distance to the train station (though its a long walk, only a 3-4 min drive). The rates at this Best Western are pretty reasonable, though I cant quite say how much b/c it depends on what weekend and what day you are going. But its less tha the other mainstream hotels nearby. Another good thing about this hotel is that it is located within walking distance (again you can get there by car in 2-3mins) to restaurants, bars, and other lively events on main, 1st, and 2nd streets. Oh yea, I should also mention that it is within 5mins of the Napa Premium Outlets as well - where they have many great designer stores at a very discounted price (if you're a girl, i'm sure that just clinched it for you right there). Have fun and hope this helps. Others If you are on a budget Napa is a very poor choice. It is very expensive here. If you want cheap try some of the wine country in northern Sonoma county or Mendocino county. I live here I'm a big fan of V. Satui Winery on HWY 29 - they usually have 9-15 wines for tasting - and the tasting is completely free. They also have a great BBQ and deli - it's a wonderful place for a picnic lunch - and easy to get to. If you really want to save money - forget Napa - Sonoma is just as nice and without all the hype. Lots of wineries offer free tasting, and it's absolutely gorgeous. |
