Travel Info we are thinking of taking a vacation starting in san fransico and then driving up to van couver. We are expecting to be spending about 7 days on the trip. thanks sheris57 Travel Tips - 949 miles / 1527 kilometers. I've done SF to Vancouver in 2 days (with an overnight in Portland, OR). It's about 10 hours to Portland, and another 6-7 hours for Vancouver. Technically, Portland to Vancouver only takes 4 1/2 hours, but delays are very common. You have to pass through Seattle traffic, there's often a wait at the border, and Vancouver doesn't have high-capacity freeways (there are highways with stoplights). If you're sightseeing, you can go at a much slower pace. In addition to the mandatory one nighter, you can spend an extra two nights in Oregon. That still gives you three nights in Washington State.
