Getting around San Francisco (Japntown, Chinatown, and Fisherman's Wharf)? |
Travel Info I'm thinking about going to San Francisco for my birthday with friends and i need help getting to these areas. 1. How do you get to Japantown from Powell BART station? 2. How do you get to Chinatown from Japantown? 3. How do you get to Fisherman's Wharf from Japantown? Thank you sooooo much! Travel Tips They're all close together (Walking distance, which is a good thing since parking will set you back, big time). When you get to the Powell station, there is a visitor's center at the square. Get a map. You can also get tickets on the tolley for several day passes. The tolley stops are in all those areas. Others I was a hippie there in the late 60's but i can't remember how i got anywhere if you know what i mean...... Just pick up a local map when you get there. You can walk every where or take the trolley. There are tours available also. Here is a link below. Have the best time ever! Happy Birthday! http://www.inetours.com/tours/san_franci... just take the powell street trolley. it goes right through japan/china town and turns around at the wharf. you won't have to bother with buses. just a little walking. If you change the order of your itinerary, it would be easier. From the Powell station, get on the cable car and it goes directly over the hill to Fisherman's Wharf. If you get off the cable car at California or Sutter, you can just walk a few blocks east to Chinatown. However, you'll have to pay another $5 to get back on the car. I'd suggest after you get off at BART, you just walk over to Grant Avenue (one block), then up a few blocks to Chinatown. Then you can walk over to Powell and get the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf. To get to Japantown from Fisherman's Wharf, go to Powell and Beach Street and catch the #47 Muni Bus to Van Ness and Geary, then transfer to the 38. It might be easier to just take a cab to Japantown, as it's just a few miles and would be cheap and less hassle. |
