What is there to do at 2-4am in SF? |
Travel Info Ok, I'm going to an event on a weekday evening in San Francisco around the Union Square/Metereon/Powell St. BART station area. I want to do something else in the area after the event, which is going to end in the wee hours of the morning, say 2am or so. And ideas of what to do there for a few hours? Nothing is open -- even Mel's closes at 3! Please help! Travel Tips California law prohibits the sale of alcohol after 2 AM, so few bars/clubs are open "after hours" (except on weekends, of course). If you're going on a Monday or Tuesday, you're pretty much limited to one of the diners below: http://www.posthoc.com/24hours.htm... Starting mid-week, some clubs do have weekday after hours. - Cat Club is one of the few clubs to offer Tuesdays after hours (until 3:00 AM). Ditto for Thursdays and Fridays. http://www.sfstation.com/cat-club-b1982... - Slide - below the Ruby Skye nightclub - is open Wednesdays - Fridays till 3:00 AM as well. http://www.sfstation.com/slide-b265119... - When it is open, Duplex doesn't close until 4 AM, regardless of the day. You're usually good to go on Thursdays and Fridays. There are several Wednesday events, but it's more sporadic. http://www.sfstation.com/duplex-b7634... - The EndUp is consistently open. It does after hours on some weekdays. Wednesdays until 3:00 AM, Thursdays until 4:30 AM, and Fridays until 6:00 AM. http://www.theendup.com/ - Suite 181 is open Thursdays and Fridays until 4 AM. http://www.suite181.com/index_flash.html... - DNA Lounge's hours vary widely - mostly after hours on weekends only (like most of the others). But there might be some strange weekday event that lasts that long. Check their schedule: http://www.dnalounge.com/ Good luck with the "waiting till BART re-opens" operation. The first train for the Easy Bay rolls into Powell Street station at 4:24 AM, BTW. Hope this helps! Others go hang out in the T.L. go talk to some viet crips lol. but seriously, go to twin peaks and look over the city. maybe you can watch the sunrise if u wanna stay up. Go to bed Go back home or back to your hotel room Not much; the city pretty much rolls up the sidewalks. If you want a 24-hour restaurant: Baghdad Cafe on Market Denny's on Post Street IHop on Lombard Mel's on Van Ness is open until 4:00 on Thursday Sparky's on Church Street near Castro (my recommendation; more fun people. You could cab it for a few bucks.) eat or go to a club |
