Good hotel in Silicon Valley?

I'm coming to California from the UK on business in just over a week. I'm visiting various tech companies south of SF (Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Menlo Park, San Mateo and poss Redwood City).

Will be flying in to SF a/p but don't want to stay in an airport hotel.

Also poss plan to do some sightseeing one day (poss down Highway 1).

Have stayed in the past at the Double Tree in San Jose.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel (Double Tree sort of standard) that would be convenient to these sorts of locations but would also have scope for finding some decent food/beer in the evenings!!

A bit further south but cool hotel is the Hotel Valencia.

Staying further north, there is a Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto that is in teh middle of where you have meetings.
