Travel Info How do I go about making amends? I want to pay a ticket I got for hitchhiking in California. I have no record of it and it was so many years ago. I still want to pay it. It must have been a California Highway Patrol who gave me the ticket. If I sent in $25.00 for the ticket, I feel that should be more than adequate. I was young, hitchhiking around the country and thought I would never come back to CA. I have been back to CA 3 or 4 times since then and I always have that experience in the back of my mind. How long does CA keep an arrest warrant in their records for such a small violation of the law? I was let out of this car on the freeway near San Jose. The poor guy who picked us up was given a ticket for stopping and letting us out on the freeway. The guy hitchhiking with me was taken to jail because he refused to sign the ticket. He was from San Jose and was immediately cuffed and thrown in the back of the state police vehicle. I asked: Where do I sign? I was treated very well. Travel Tips im sure the statute of limitation has run out by now. if you feel that guilty may i suggest taking that money and donating it to a charity of your choice. Others You can get arrested for hitchhiking?? That's messed up. They won't have anything on that anymore. Just pat yourself on the back, you let the cat outta the bag. This should be enough for you, if not than call the CA police department on a payphone and explain the situation under your neighbors name (jk). Try checking with the clerk of courts for that city - I would think you would be able to check on line for the number (google it) - or check the clerk of courts for the state, since you think it may have been a state trooper.
