Travel Info I am driving first time from IN to CA. I will take 3-4 nights. I need cheap hotel info along the way.? Travel Tips try google earth and get it to list hotels on route Others stop at the rest areas, they have motel books for travelers. along the interrstate I drov e to Cali in 3 days from Orlando Fl. Save all the money you can, sleep in your car and pack your own food! Cali is expensive as hell! Why not figure out before you leave where you want to stop? That way, you can look online before you go for information concerning inexpensive hotels/motels. It'd probably simplify things for you. just drive. along the way youll see some of the cheaper motels that advertise their prices. just stop at one of them. also, when people drive that long they tend to end up going 85MPH by the end of the trip. just set it on cruise control and be safe. Do map quest and route yourself, then check out motel prices that way, (you can also reserve the rooms if you'd like) I personally choose to stop at the entrance of each state, at the info. and welcome area. The booklets you pick up have really good coupons in them for motels. Also, the attendants will route you to the motel and call and reserve your room for you if you choose. Works great. have a fun trip. All the major chain restaurants and major truck stops will have free magazines and booklets with ads and coupons. These are printed for many different regions, so every time you eat or gas up, pick up a couple of these. Many of them have toll-free numbers, so you can call ahead to find out about room availability and to make reservations. Some have pretty good deals that include meal discounts or even free breakfasts. One of my favorites has been the Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are especially clean and nicely appointed. Plus they offer a free continental breakfast which includes doughnuts, rolls, hard boiled eggs, toast, fruit, coffee, tea, milk and juices. Cold cereal too. Others offered similar deals. It was real handy, not to have to make another stop just to eat breakfast. I could put in a lot of miles before I had to stop again. |
