I recently got in an accident where someone cut in front of me and I clipped their back end, would it be my f? |
Travel Info This guy just jumped in front on me and i barely have time to press on the brake and i clipped him. I stopped and he did too. It was dark. Then he turned off his lights and droved off. Travel Tips Nope. the fact that he left the scene of the crime makes it an automatic his fault if you got his plate #. If not, it doesn't really matter who'se fault it was, because you'll be stuck with the bill. Others Technically, yes ...... you did not have control of your vehicle. However, if he drove off, chances are he didn't want the cops involved .... no license, no insurance, drunk, stoned, stolen car ....... If you clipped him on the side as he changed lanes then no, but if you solidly smacked the back of his car then yes unless you can get a witness that saw him change lanes. The witness has to be from another vehicle or a pedestrian, etc. The fact he didn't stop though is another issue all together. Hope you have his licence plate. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime in some states. Yep its your fault..depending on what state ur in,here in NY if you run into the back of someone its always considered your fault.due to the fact you werent paying attention, not to mention if its a(no fault accident)you'll have trouble proving that it wasnt.so chances are your insurance will go up..But if he drove off im not sure how that would work, report it as a hit and run to the police and ur ins. company u should be alright. MMFCL Its' not your fault. If got the license plate, you can go after their insurance company. YOu have no choice, but filed under your insurance co. and pay for the deductibles. or have it fix on your own without having a record on your insurance. |
