Travel Info Any recommended places around San Jose or San Francisco in California to see fall foilage.? Travel Tips You know, when easterners think "fall foliage" they think of colors from red through golds into brown. We Californians do have color anywhere there is a concentration of hardwood forests. Please see the two URLs I've included for specific notes about where to visit color. However, westerners can learn to think about autumn in different terms. I live in the redwood forest, and autumn here is still green, with brilliant touches of gold from the vine maples, and the soft carpet under the redwood trees changing as trillium and oxalis give way to a bloom of mushrooms and other fungus. My suggestion is to go to any forested area near you and try to see autumn through new eyes. Source(s): http://www.calphoto.com/fall.htm... http://www.fs.fed.us/news/fallcolors/... Other Travel Tips Not really. You'll find some color here and there, but I've never seen an area with concentrations of fall color. There is no fall foliage in SJ or SF... Stay on the east coast residential areas in the suburbs with non native trees that turn color. Hardly ANY Bay Area native tree species turn color. |
