A question about the Asian population in the San Jose/Santa Clara county area...? |
Travel Info Wikipedia says there's a significant Asian population in this area... is there a specific nationality of Asian people that predominates (i.e. Indian, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese)? Travel Tips Depends on the area but yes there is a lot of Asians in this area from all regions of Asia. Sunnyvale and Fremont have a large Indian population, San Jose has a large Vietnamese and Cambodian population, Japan town is in San Jose and has a lot of Japanese shops, and a lot of Chinese live in Cupertino and Fremont. Santa Clara County and San Jose are quite diverse. Source(s): Live here my whole life Other Travel Tips I don't know the numbers but my rough guess is that Vietnamese and Chinese communities are the largest Asian communities in that area. Huge Vietnemise (sorry about the spelling) population its the biggest population of that outside vietnam! So yes it is a high population. You could go to www.census.gov and do a query. Sorry, I don't know, as I live north of there. Yes, from all over Asia. Tons of Indian engineers and doctors. Many Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. Some Middle East, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, etc. There are areas where these populations are higher than others, forming communities. Along El Camino Real in Sunnyvale is Korea Town. There is an old Japan town in San Jose. There is a Thai Buddhist temple in Fremont, etc. This area is fantastic. There is tons of diversity. chinese in west san jose/cupertino indians in sunnyvale vietnamese in evergreen/berryessa roughly |
