What are some good beaches near (or in) San Jose, California (that are good for sunset watching)? |
Travel Info It would be nice to find a beach with blue water and white sand that isnt populated too much, but does it really exist here? Hopefully the sunset/rise is visible from this beach? Anything is appreciated though =] Travel Tips California does not have white sand beaches. We also do not have clear blue water if that is what you mean. All the beaches have a darker water. The nearest beach of any kind would be in the Santa Cruz area. The least populated beach I have ever been to is in Marina out near Monterey. Off of Highway 1 take the Reservation Rd exit and follow the signs that say beach. It is less than a 1/2 mile from the highway exit. Others There are no beaches in San Jose... you would have to go to Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Fransisco, or any other areas near the ocean. San Jose doesnt even touch the ocean or the bay let alone that.. Even if it does, the salt marsh are protective enviroment.. so go to SF, SC, or... anywhere near the beach. lived in SJ all my life I don't know about white sand, all of the sand I have seen in Nor. Cal. is beige. And you will see the sunset, not the sunrise, because all the beaches face west. There's beaches all up and down the coast, but for less populated ones try 17 mile drive in Carmel (you have to pay to get in) or perhaps some beaches along the peninsula. Bring a sweater or blanket, even in the summer the beaches up here get cold in the evening. |
