Northern california? |
Travel Info ok i have decided that if i move from my home here in san jose,ca i would like to move up north. anything above the bay area and the modesto area. what town would you suggest. i want something slow paced where schools are safe and a great community. i would also like a town close by stores and things for kids to do. like sports and stuff. i inherited $600,000 so in the $400,000 price range. getting my small kids away from this area is my main concern so i just want something safe, comfortable and beautiful is a plus. thanks in advance. Travel Tips 1/2 of san jose is now in folsom. a small but growing community big on kids sports and lots to do. Others Funny you should mention this. I read your question and I was thinking Chico, California. However, as I read your full requirements I started thinking a little closer to home. My parents are selling their place in Durham, California. Small town with a great school but close enough to good shopping. Very Very safe and they are selling their place for less than $400k. 3 bed 2 bath on a large lot. My sister always had a horse and for a while we used to raise a steer every year. Friendly neighbors on a rarely traveled road. Creek nearby. Also orchards. Fruit trees and climbing trees in the backyard. Close to the foothills and about 2 hrs from Tahoe area. If you have some interest e-mail me. Even if that house is not the perfect fit, I can give you tips on the area. You might want to consider Belmont. It's still in the Bay Area, definitely more on the north side right before San Francisco. It's a small town, got lots of stores nearby (Target, Safeway, Walgreens, Longs, McDonald's, Starbucks, some chain restaurants your familiar with, shopping centers, etc). You should drop by & check out the neighborhood first. I would say the schools are way better & safer than the ones in San Jose. Belmont is nothing like San Jose. It's just a small town for older folks & family who likes to be more on the quiet side. I've never known or heard of too many crimes going on in Belmont. I think it would be great for your kids. Also, you can buy a house with that money you inherited. Here's the website: http://www.belmont.gov/ I lived in Belmont for 10 years when I was a kid. My parents owned a Flower Shop in this city. Does it have to be North of SJ? Central Coast living is the best! San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach Area is very safe and along the coast is beautiful! Look into Chico. Great little city with lots to do. |
