Travel Info Is there a public transport from San Jose to Monterey Bay Aquarium? If so, what is it and how long? Travel Tips San Jose is 75 minutes from Monterey by car. As mentioned, it is not connected via any of our transit systems. however, you could check into the Monterey Salinas Airbus, which will take you from the San Jose airport to the Monterey Transit Plaza. From there, you could get a taxi or maybe even a bus to the aquarium. It's a round about way to get there, but if you cannot rent a car, it may be the best bet. Check out their website at: http://www.montereyairbus.com/ Others Monterey isn't connected to the Bay Area transit systems, most likely you will have to take a Greyhound bus or a very expensive taxi ride. San Jose is about an 2-3 hour car ride from Monterey and is not part of the main transit system, but you could probably take the train from San Jose to the area. live in the Bay Area I am from Monterey and live in San Jose. The drive is at most 1.5 hours and usually is 1.25 hours long. It is never a 2 hour drive unless you are doing it on Thanksgiving weekend or something. Anyway, the person that wrote about the Monterey-Salinas Airbus had an excellent idea! One of the stops is at the main transit center in downtown Monterey, and from there you could take public transportation or a taxi. It is only about 1.5 miles from there, you could actually walk down the coastline (beautiful and lots of places to stop) from there. Right now the Monterey Bay Aquarium has an awesome exhibit with penguins. |
