Travel Tips You鈥檙e talking about Moffett Field - Formerly Naval Air station, but since have been taken over by NASA. There are 3 Hangers 1, 2 and 3. Hanger 1 is a Naval Historical Monument. They have used the Hangers for various reasons (i.e. storage for the Good Year Blimp.) Check out the link for complete details on Moffett Field and its hangers. Other Travel Tips I was a child in Sunnyvale during WW II, and those hangars were for blimps, and I suppose for some of the hot air balloons as well. Both were common sights in our skies then. Many years later, I attended an air show out there, and we were told that the largest of the hangars was so big that it had its own atmosphere sometimes. That is Moffet Field.
