I need advise from someone who lives or knows Sao Paulo.?

I am joining a conference at the University of Sao Paulo (Department of Economics, in Cidade Universitaria) and I need to book a hotel close to this place. I have no idea how to search for one cheap close to the venue. I want to pay less than 75 dollars.
Can anyone from Sao Paulo recommend a nice and cheap hotel?

Travel Tips
University conference organisers usually supply a list of suitable accommodation near the venue at various prices, with distances. It is much nicer to stay in accommodation where there are other delegates - walk back together (safer) or share taxis, chat on the way, meet over breakfast, etc. So ask the conference booking office as your first enquiry.
