Why do men sell women's underwear in Saudi Arabia (That you buy it from a man and not a woman)? |
Travel Info Why is it that the sellers of women's under garments in Saudia Arabia are men? Isn't that one item of clothing that the woman should buy herself. and not want to buy it from a man for reasons of privacy. It is not really very Islamic for a man to have this job? Travel Tips 30.06.2005!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Under new rules, all lingerie shops have one year to replace their male staff with women. Shops selling underwear alongside other clothes and goods, including the long black abaya cloak women must wear in public, have two years to make the switch. Labour Minister Ghazi al-Gosaibi issued a directive on women's clothing stores to minimise the amount of contact between men and women. As well as changing staff, shop owners have been ordered to design stores so that nobody can see inside, and to install separate entrances for women. Training funds will be allocated for women, and foreign workers would also be replaced inside shops. Btw. these male sales persons were NO Muslims! Take care Others err....i don tink tat they prohibit men from doing dis job in the al_quran....but it's reli unsual i guess 2 c this in Saudi Arabia..lol In Islam, free trade is yr right in our religion as long as it is not in anything prohibited like liquor. First of all most Saudi women do their shopping in most of the malls all around their country and they are women there to assist them. What u r talking about are street vendors which meet the needs of all other people who are working in SA or visiting it and some minority of Saudi women. What u forget is that all women in SA are wearing the Islamic outfit of hijab which is a very modest outfit made for Muslim women's benefit to protect them from prying eyes and gives them the confidence to deal with strangers without fear or shame. Just because some people are different doesn't make them wrong. All women malls/floors are very common in KSA many of which hold undergarments and lingerie shops. The decree that all shops that sell women's items should be run by women only has been opposed greatly in some areas in KSA. Jeddah for example is one of the first cities in KSA to have an open jewelery shop with salesladies. |
