Do Saudi women feel.....? |
Travel Info they are free to express themselves ? Is Saudi Arabia a male dominated society or are women free to progress educationally , professionally etc ? Travel Tips yes Saudi Arabia is male dominated society. like any other society we have our problems However, women can and can't express themselves I think it depend on some factors beside being well educated , active and contributed woman for example, if the woman from loyal root or high influenced family or tribe and her family support her without any conditions sure she can express her self more openly and can do what she wants . However , people are different and sure not every woman in SA from royal root or very rich influenced family and I believe there are many women who are facing different kinds of challenges and obstructs. anyway, I'm glad that there are more educational , job opportunities and some rights being provided. However , personally I feel things are very slow and I hope to see real and more effective changes . Others i was visit saudi few years ago. i have seen most of saudi women feel free to express themselves. they work as professional in office, store, boutique and also airport. most saudi women also quiet rich, coz they have good job and rich family too. saudi princess, like lulwa al faisal, nouf bint bandar, reem bint waleed already prove that women in saudi free to do anything. one thing they cant do is drive a car. thats because government afraid about women security when drive alone. thats why most saudi women have own driver. I lived in Saudi Arabia until I was 14... fun times... the things you do there... you just dont do anywhere else. Saudi women are treated like queens in Islam. Young girls are also treated like queens. In Saudi Arabia women don't work. They can go to school and their husband's can't stop them. They can get a job if they want to but most of them prefer to stay at home and take care of the house and children. Women have male drivers in Saudi Arabia to take them places. They can ask their husband for anything they want and the husband or eldest son has to go and get it for them. If a woman is in a long line at the bank or the grocery store the men let her go to the front of the line to finish her business first and the men don't complain about it. Women don't have to work and if they want some money their husband has to give the wife money. Saudi women are treated very well in Saudi Arabia. Of course Saudi is a male dominated society. The competition for jobs is increasingly joined by Saudi women. They are graduating from college in record numbers, only to run up against the constraints of a conservative Islamic society that keeps men and women from working together anywhere but hospitals. Saudi women have far fewer rights than men. They can't drive or travel abroad without a husband's permission. Daughters can inherit only half as much as sons, and a woman's testimony is given only half the weight of a man's in court. In a culture like Saudi Arabia's, change comes slowly. But there are signs it is coming. For the first time, women are allowed to have photo ID cards although they must get permission from a male family member. But - it's like everywhere else on earth. Some women get treated like queens and some don't. You also might not forget that you see things from a different view growing up in a strict Islamic culture and feel different about certain things then a Westerner does. Take care!
