Why is it that Saudi men always seem to marry 14 year old Saudi women instead of people their own age? |
Travel Info I'm married to a Saudi man and I am just wondering why Saudi men don't marry women their own age. I know in Saudi from what my husband tells me that a Saudi woman can only marry a Saudi man and that most women are around 14, 15 years old when they get married. I have a sister in law who's 26 and no one has asked to marry her yet. I'm just curious as to why men in Saudi Arabia seem to prefer women who are younger then them before they will ask to marry a woman my sister in law's age. Shokran and forgive me for my ignorance. Travel Tips thats not always the case however, it takes time for a guy to stand on his feet and be able to provide for his family, so when he is finally able to get a family he is like 30- 35 years old and all women his age are married. that how it is with my parents. my dad is 12 years older then my mom, it suxs for her I guess. Because she still wants to go out to movies, and stuff while dad just wants to stay home and sleep. EDIT: first answer is wrong, Saudi Muslim men do not sleep around it is forbidden by Sharia law Others simple....they're perverts!!! It happens that's true; Saudi men aren't the only ones that do it; you have your Jordanians and Syrians as well and the other Arab speaking countries. The younger girls are easier to train. Still, here and there they do marry women closer to their ages, depending upon the man. That's not true. I'm not saying this thing have never happened it happened but not useual. All my female relatives they got married and they were above 19. I get married with my wife and she was 20 and I was 25 :) maybe what prove what I'm saying that your sister in law is 26 and she's still not married :) two of my friends they got married with older girls. they were 27 and their wifes were 34 and 35. and yes we prefer to marry a young women who's less that 30. we prefer to marry a women who's younger than us and at the same time, women prefer to marry older man. I think it's natural !! those who marry 14 year old are usually poorly educated with a tradition that goes to the middle ages. other are perverts, they just want sex, usually that marriage will not last for more than a year, they use the girl and her family, and her family uses the girl as an asset for sale to the highest bidder, the majority of saudis are well educated, they will never accept that to happen to their own daughters, so most who 14 year old grils are in old villages or rural environment. so most of saudis who pick that age go there or to yemen(mostly from yemen) or egypt(comes second after yemen) or other arab or muslim country. a saudi women can marry a non saudi, i know many who did, the main problem is the family of the women don't want their daughters to marry a non saudi or tribe, they fear that she will bring shame to the family, and most of these Marriages fail because most non saudi who marry a saudi, marry her for her money or lust or to take advantage of the services provided to her as a saudi, for example he opens a company in her name or buy real estate or have a better life in a stable country( you see that very common in Palestinians, Jordanians, Syrians and Lebanese who marry a saudi) i met a many Palestinian and Jordanian who are trying to find a saudi wife, so they can open a business or for her money 26 is the new 21, more and more are choosing wives in this age, some currently consider 27 as the best age for marriage. i myself, if i start thinking about marriage i will not choose some one more than 2 years younger than my age. about no one asked her, wait, my friends sister didn't get any one to ask her untill she reached 30, and it was the best man she ever could hope for, I think thats just your husbands point of view.. I am Saudi and all my female girlfriends that I knew from elementary age, waited till in late 20's before marriage.. I am now 29 and still going to some of my girlfriends weddings.. Yes, some marry young, but thats just the same statistics as any other country,, Yes, even in USA some girls marry young.. I myself married at 24... I graduated university, and then got married.. .. erm.. my male relatives that I know.. dont go set out to marry teenage girls.. In fact, I think they prefer older wiser, mature girls... I personally out of all my 25 immediate relatives, cousins, aunts uncles, etc... the youngest girl to get married in the past 4 years I can remember was 20yrs old.. and her husband wasnt some old geezer either.. He was 25. It's my choice . |
