Travel Info I will study in saudi, in Effat College, could u pls tell how is life in jeddah?? Travel Tips I don't know the exact type of answer you're seeking, but here's what I experienced ! Jeddah is different than most of other Saudi cities, more lively and more fun !! I dunno where you live, but compared to other arab cities Jeddah is quite calm, no much crowd (actually the roads are wide enough to avoid jams !!) and no much NOISE ! very clean, and safe...they have lots of shopping malls, you'll find all the world known brands there,..life is a real comfort there (physical and mental !) other than saudi ppl, you'll find LOTS of Egyptians, Syrians, Lebanese, Pakistanis/Indians, Germans and european generally.. People of jeddah was the nicest ones I've ever dealt with in Saudi !! the red sea is amazing, they REALLY REALLY handle it very tidily and Jeddah is the largest open gallery ever, you'll find large dazzling sculptures at almost every square there, all of them are Modern art bec. they believe representing living creatures is Haram. however, I love Solitude, and I love the quiet atmosphere so I liked it very much, and I'm visiting again next week insha'allah ! :) for girls, you don't have to hide your hair if you're unveiled, you just have to wear a black "Abaya" and anything modest underneath, some women their leave the Abaya unbuttoned it's not really a problem there !.. Everything you need is available there with many many alternatives, but yes, I guess for girls it would be kinda "boring" sometimes cuz they always need someone to drive them or finish their commitments.. goodluck ! Others I have been living here for 4 years, the truth is that sometimes it can been very boring here especially since you have to depend on men for everything. But as long as you have a great group of close friends you'll be fine. (and a telephone). I personally don't go to that college but I heard nice things about it. Where are you coming from that will affect how you feel about jeddah. I hope this was infomative. Life in there is good. I have some friends who live there and are so happy. But i don kno about that college no night clubs no movies no parties women can not drive, not much you can do for fun therefore you well able to devote more time for studying and hope you do well at school. |
