Does anyone have any good news about bremerton washington weather? |
Travel Info My new husband is being transferred there and I have heard nothing but gloomy rainy things about the weather there... I am from Oklahoma and love our hot sunny days... Any advice or promising comments?? Travel Tips I live close by Bremerton. Yes most of everything you heard is true. I HATE grey skys. When I watch the Home and Garden channel I envy people. I am not a fan of hot weather but there is a saying in WA. People don't tan here they rust. Summer is pleasant. It isn't usually too hot. A nice place to see and get records of the weather is http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/uswa00... also check out the records and averages also. My advise is to get the proper rain gear. Water proof your shoes every fall. Please remember that if your not use to lots of rainy driving that the first downpour after it has been dry for awhile is very slick from oil etc on the road. Drive with your head lights on in the day also since it is grey and dark. Well, you are use to snow so you do much better in it than us. LOL. You may get use to it. I hope you do for your sake. Good Luck I wish I could wave a magic wand and have sunshine! Others I live in Issaquah, just outside Seattle; I'm from Texas originally, so I can kind of relate. It IS rainy here, but it's seldom terribly cold or terribly hot. You will be just a short distance from Seattle by ferry. You generally won't need air conditioning here at all, which is great, at least in my opinion. If you like plants, there's just nothing that won't grow here, it seems. The spring and summer and fall are absolutely beautiful. You won't be far from the Pacific, or the Olympic Peninsula and the mountains there - you'll also have a great view of Mount Rainier when it's clear, which is just spectacular. If you like to ski, the Cascades slopes get a LOT of snow, and you won't be all that far away, but Bremerton seldom gets any at all. Seattle has museums, a symphony, universities, lots of Native American culture, tons of gardens, and lots more. It's also a very cosmopolitan city for its size thanks to the mix of cultures here - there are festivals for more holidays and nationalities than you might expect for a city its size. There is a lot to do in Seattle practically ALL the time, no matter what you enjoy. The winters are a bit gloomy, but not nearly as cold as Oklahoma. I believe, as Mark Twain did, that people are just about as happy as they decide to be. Get a good rainjacket (I recommend one with a polartec lining for warmth), don't worry too much about the rain, and start enjoying the great stuff here! |
