Anyone ever been or lived on Whidbey Island in Washington before? |
Travel Info Anyone ever been or lived on Whidbey Island in Washington before? Travel Tips My grandparents have had a place on Whidbey for as long as I can remember. Basic info: to get onteh island you have three choices. One, Deception Pass. High bridge between mainland and north end of the Island, beautiful really and an okay drive. Second, Port Townsend Ferry. This is a smaller ferry leaving from Port Townsend WA. The tides can influence this ferry so a very low tide will shut it down. Third, the Clinton - Mukilteo Ferry. By far the busiest and most popular route to south end of the island. Get there early and be prepared to wait, especially in the summer months. Once on the Island, be prepared to go slow, people live on Island time and 55 mph means 52 at best. You will get pulled over for 56 by abored cop. Oak Harbor hosts a large Naval Air base and that area is a little more with the times than the rest of the island. You may want to visit Ft. Casey. It is a good place for relaxation and to slow down. Others Yes, I did! I've been there before. It's a nice little place, feels remote without actually being too far from larger cities. It's fun to take a ferry ride over to the Whidbey too. Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. http://www.rickross.com/reference/suprem... |
