What to expect when crossng into Canada?

Travel Info
Is it easy or do they hassel you. do they just stop and check random people.

Travel Tips
It used to be that when crossing over they would only sporatically check the vehicles, ask you where you were from and be done with you. Now with all the security efforts they check every vehicle, and check passports at almost every entrance. If you have luggage with you, they will ask you to pull aside so they can inspect your luggage. If you purchase anything in Canada and try to cross it you will have to pay a tax at the border. It's crazy... I went with my kids and we forgot passports... they asked my kids if they were being kidnapped. (!) it took about an hour. BRING YOUR PASSPORTS, IDS, DRIVERS LICENSE> you have to tell them why you are crossing.

Ok, first of all. They aren't MEAN. Give me a break. Secondly you can expect a LOT from our country. There has got to be a good reason why you are making the trip to begin with. As far as crossing the border it's standard procedure. They will ask you what your business is traveling to Canada. How long you plan on staying. If you have any illegal substances, etc. and will ask you for some identification. You might expect a bit of a lineup though. Have fun!
