Travel Info Wat are some interesting facts about mount rainier? Travel Tips Here is some sites that could help you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mount_raini... http://www.nps.gov/features/mora_cenn/fa... http://www.mount.rainier.national-park.c... http://www.mt-rainier.com/ Others Its tall Mount Rainier is an active Cascade volcano encased in over 35 square miles of snow and glacial ice. The 14,410鈥?mountain is surrounded by lush old growth forests, spectacular subalpine meadows and a National Historic Landmark District that showcases the "NPS Rustic" style architecture of the 1920s and 1930s. Unfortunately, people die on it seemingly yearly whilst hiking. If it blows (it's ACTIVE, mind you), Seattle/Tacoma will be hosed with ash, maybe lava flows. Also I know that people ride bicycles around it in a day, the RAMROD (ride around mount rainier in one day), it's about a 150-mile trip. http://www.redmondcyclingclub.org/ramrod... apparently you can see a deer in the shadows of the mountain at certain times of day. uh... there are flowers on the mountain! lol. When you drive down I-5 South through Seattle, Mt Rainier is right in front of you. I bet the great view has cause some drivers to get distracted and crash into other cars! Also, it is the only mountain named to describe its regional climate. (Rainy-er? Get it? A-ha-ha-ha-ha! I'm a dork.) |
