2 questions for people who know/live in Seattle.? |
Travel Info 1. Is there a way to get from the Space Needle to Bainbridge Island by road? I checked maps and it looks like the shortest route is about 50-70 miles long. I know you can take the Seattle-Bainbridge Fry by ferry, but I don't know if you can drive. The route I saw starts from Tacoma and goes over the bridge and then hooks up to Route 3. 2. How early/late do the commuter ferries run? Travel Tips 1. If you drive from the Space Needle to Bainbridge you'd take I-5 South from Seattle to Tacoma, then exit onto Hwy 16. Stay on Hwy 16 until it merges with Hwy 3 and contiue north until you reach Hwy 305, the exit for Bainbridge. Here's a map http://maps.yahoo.com/;_ylc=x3odmtexnmiy... 2. The first ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge leaves at 5:30 am Mon-Fri. On Sat and Sun it leaves at 6:10 am. The last boat back to Seattle from Bainbrige is 12:55 am Mon-Fri and 1:25 am on Sat and Sun. Here's a link to the ferry schedule http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule... Source(s): Life long WA resident Other Travel Tips Just take the ferry. A lot less trouble. And fun too. Here is the schedule: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule... I think the ferries start running around 5am in the morning. There is no other way to get to bainbridge besides the ferry or the extra long route!!!! Hope this helps. Lived in seattle for years! You can drive it, but it would be much more relaxing to take the ferry. The route you refer to crosses the Tacoma Narrows bridge and is quite a drive on Rt 3! Take the ferry from the port of Seattle! Shortest and the best! Very relaxing ride too! You'll definitely enjoy the trip! Traffic in the Seattle area can be extremely hectic during rush hours causing much delay and lenghtening your trip extensively! Seattle was not know for their infastructure development during the mass influx of new comers during the 90's! Ferry is the way to go. Drive your car right onto the boat. Get some coffee and gaze back at the city...great view. I think the first one is 5-5:30 AM. There is a web site for the ferry that shows the schedule. www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries |
