Places to visit in Seattle within an hour/two hours drive? |
Travel Info What are some nice places to visit around Seattle, that can be reached by driving for an hour or two (max) in the month of March? (Other than BC). Travel Tips All previous answers are in the cities--and good options to boot. Outside of the city you have some nature options: Mt. Rainier (Paradise only in winter--maybe), The Olympic Mountains (a full 2 hours), ski areas, San Juan Islands (another full 2 hours), and the ferries are all popular for tourists and doable. A few small towns in the area are also known for their ethnic flair, albeit somewhat "fakeish" at times: Lynden (Dutch--very authentic), Poulsbo (Scandinavian), Leavenworth (Bavarian--but over the mountains in snow is iffy). Others Boeing Tour's are offered in Mukilteo which is about 40 minutes North. Cute little town - Ivars restaurant at the end of the highway is excellent! You can catch the ferry in Mukilteo and go to that island (blank mind - late, tired) that is a 10 minute ferry ride - cute island to explore. Alki Beach is a must. The Space Needle is a must. The Experience Music Project is a must. Pike Place Market is definately a must. Hey, have a great/safe trip! Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma Swap Meet at the Midway Drive-in on hwy 99 on weekends Pike's Place Market Space Needle Woodland Park Zoo Fisherman's Wharf Experience Music Project Chihuly Museum of Glass Underground Seattle Go to Snoqualmie Pass to go Skiing or Snowboarding!! very cheap & fun!! take the Ferry to Bremerton and See the Warship USS Turner Joy. wonderful outing. leavenworth is just east of stevens pass and well worth the trip http://www.leavenworth.org/ |
