What are the BAD neighborhoods in Seattle? |
Travel Info Everyone basically has their own idea of good, but agrees on the bad, so what are the neighborhoods to stay out of? Travel Tips Areas to avoid North Seattle avoid Aurora Ave. within the general vicinity. Alot of cheap motels, pawn shops, etc... used to be a hot spot for drugs and prostitution been cleaned up in the past few years none the less still a seedy area. Central Seattle or Central District this area has changed in the past 10 to 15 years from a low income area to middle class area due to gentrification still some seedy areas along 23rd Ave. West Seattle avoid anything in the general vicinity of Delridge Way heading toward White Center and also South Park South Seattle avoid the general vicinity of Rainer Ave/Columbia City Source(s): Seattle native Other Travel Tips just drive around flashing gang signs until you get shot at...then you will know I would go there on vacation, drive around & ask people and observe things. like cars, conditions of homes, punks hanging around, you know. It's unfortunate, but by law a realtor can't tell you. sucks don't it. heck I live in a decent town, then you get 1 or 2 jerkoff neighbors and you feel like moving. I think if you want peace you have to live in nice quiet expensive condo. with no ( yard nieghbors) that blast there radios etc. In the actual city or in the area? Try to stear clear of the rainer valley for the most part. White center can be a bit on the iffy side too. To be honest you run into a better chance of being in a bad neighborhood south of the main downtown area. There is a lot more industrial and low income areas there, and while they are ok places, if you are looking for a place to move a family I would steer clear. Well I guess your "bad neighborhoods" in Seattle would mainly be West Seattle, Anyway around Aurora/99- Highway, and Whitecenter. But honestly...living in those places doesn't mean your gonna get robbed every week and/or shot at every time you go out side. You end up in trouble if you go looking for it, but they may not be the place to live if you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night and watch hookers walking the streets (i.e. Aurora/ 99 Highway). ~G For the most part west Seattle is a nice place BUT delridge, white center, south park, high point are pretty bad. South Seattle Rainier ave, MLK way, central District. those are the only places i have experienced as being bad, but i know there is more! |
