Why won't seattle put a log boom in the outter waters near the floating bridge?

Travel Info
If There was a log boom on side of open water, then the waves coming in would hit the logs instead of the floating bridge and driveing on the bridge would be smoother.

Travel Tips
But then boats wouldn't be able to go past the log boom. The bridge is there not only for the purpose of moving the cars from one side of the lake to the other, but for allowing boat traffic to go underneath.

Plus, I don't think a log boom would do the trick. They would just roll with the waves, still allowing the waves to hit the bridge. You would need a breakwater to do that, and that would definitely impede boat traffic.

I still don't think a log boom would do anything. Logs just float on top of the water, they don't do anything to take away the energy of the waves.
