Driving to Seattle from New Jersey... any advice? |
Travel Info Heres the deal.. I'm 23 years old, got my whole life ahead of me and new jersey is not working out. I lived in NYC for about two years, i loved it there. the music scene, the arts and all the weirdos. but it still wasnt where i wanted to be. i need something more, so for that very reason i've decided to pack all my stuff (which isnt very much) and drive out to washington state. no, i dont know anyone there, but i figure i'm 23 with not many responsibilities, so if not now, when? Any advice on things to see/do along the way? i'm really in no hurry so i'm thinking, about taking five or six days to take it all in. I've been looking online trying to find an apartment in the right neighbourhood but its a little overwhelming. I want to be close enough to the city whithout being smack in the middle. definitely somewhere "artsy" and culturally diverse. any ideas? I'd appreciate any help you can offer. thanks Travel Tips Well, as you've probably seen, Seattle is an expensive place to live. You described North Seattle perfectly. Fremont/Ballard/U-district/Gre... are the North Seattle neighborhoods. Those communities are very diverse with lots of "artsy" people. It is still affordable and minutes from downtown. Fremont would probably be the best as you have described. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/fremont%2c_... After that, any of the eastside cities like Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond provide young, hip, nice neighborhoods. Others my cousin took a train from new jersey to seattle. it took a really long time, and he says all he saw was cows. for days. northern america is really boring to drive through. |
