Seattle souvenirs to remember?

I'm heading to Seattle in a few weeks, and while I'm out of town a friend will be watching my place. I had planned on getting her a bottle of wine for the trouble, but I'd also like to bring her back something with a little pacific northwest character. (IE: no space needle snow-globes, or Starbucks #1 cups).

Any suggestions on something neat to bring back? Keep in mind that this doesn't have to be a touristy item... in fact probably better if it isn't.

I would suggest getting your friend a Mt. St. Helen's ash statue. You can purchase these at the Pike Place Market downtown Seattle. They are unique to the Seattle area. Also I would suggest Frans Chocolates. They are made fresh in Seattle! I would get the Dark Chocolate Grey Salt Caramels. They are award winning. You could also get a totem pole. They also can be found at the Pike Place Market. Pike Place is the perfect place to get a souvenir for your friend. They have unique merchandise that you can only buy here in Seattle! If you're looking for a distinctively "Seattle" souvenir to bring back for a friend, stop in at Fran's Chocolates. Fran's has unique & wonderful chocolates and award-winning gray salt caramels.
Oh, and pick up some for yourself.

Well I'm just a girl from Wisconsin, but I am planning to be in the Seattle area soon, so I don't have any true insider tips on the best souvenirs to bring back, but am however female, so I may be of some help for the female mind.

I do love the Fans Chocolate idea, as chocolate is the way to any woman's heart!! And a bottle of wine from a local winery would be good along with chocolate.

Some of the things the Pacific Northwest is known for are what..............upscale coffee, fresh pears, apples, salmon, and Pike Place, among other things. You could pick up an interesting and yummy something at Pike Place Market. Some pesto, Tomato Basil Relish, pine nut butter, apple butter or another tasty item, made by a local merchant. I'm a big fan of edible items for gifts, as they are always usefull, and they dont sit around and clutter up your house.

Could I suggest perhaps a piece of polished petrified wood? It's classy and a part of the Pacific northwest, without the "tourist souvenir" look.
Stop by Jack's Fish in Pike Place Market and get her a salmon (packed for travel by the good folks at Jack's, of course). What could be more "Seattle"?? If she's into music get her a Sub Pop t-shirt. Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe on the waterfront has bizarre stuff you'll never find anywhere else, although it's not necessarily "Seattle" stuff...
Your two gifts in one: Chateau Ste. Michelle wine. I hope your friend likes desert wine, because Chateau Ste. Michelle makes the best desert wines. You have to try their Riesling or Chenin Blanc.

And if you are a beer fan, you can stop by Red Hook while you are there. I love Red Hook Heffeweizen. And just so you don't get too drunk, I recommend skipping Columbia Crest winery. They don't have anything that compares to Chateau Ste. Michelle.
