WHY IS IT ALWAYS CLOUDY?? like it doesnt rain a lot but i can never see the beautiful mountains!? |
Travel Info my mother lives in anacortes, washington..and i go out there like four times a year but i always get the sucky week im in love with mountains but i never get to see them becuase its soo cloudy...and i know why, but its just dumb still. i hear septemeber is the best time to go out there, but whatevs anyone who lives out there, can you tell me what its gonna be like this week? yahoo weather is being a dumb **** Travel Tips The answer is a combination of geography and meteorology. Anacortes sits on the northwest coast of Washington thus the humidity especially in winter is high and the Ocean temperatures are relatively higher than the land temperatures. Since the prevailing winds are from the west (the Pacific) the warmer humid air blows over the colder land mass. The air temperature over the land is also cooler than over the ocean and since cooler air has reduced capacity to hold moisture, it rains ---a lot. Even when it doesn't rain it's usually cloudy. The mountains themselves complicate matters, since the wet air masses has difficulty making it over the mountain ranges so it dumps the moisture on the seaward side of the mountains. Weather patterns sweeping in from the southwest bring lots of warm, moist air in from sub-tropical zones (the so-called Pineapple Expresses) and guess what --- more rain! This year has been particularly bad. The forecast for the weekend is relatively good. North of Seattle looks to have some sunny weather on Saturday and then cloudy on Sunday into the rest of the week, but no significant rain events are forecast. I live in Vancouver, BC and the weather is even worse hear in winter due to the close proximity of the Coast Mountain range. Others Today the weather is clear and beautiful! Yesterday it was clear and 70 degrees. Partly cloudy over the weekend but the forecast looks good! check weather.com If you want to see the mountains, I suggest August rather than September (if you have the option as to times). The reason has to do with the proximity two both the Olympic and Cascade mountains, as well as all that water in the Pacific and Puget sound. As to this week, starting with Saturday, March 31, the weekend is going to be a mess, but the forecast for Sunday night through Tuesday night is CLEAR!!! Good luck! http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/mapclic... Not true. I hate it hear, but I'm screwed here so I have to make do with it. I would say to come here between May-August. It's nicer then. Otherwise all your gonna see is the color gray for another 9 months and possibly think of suicide |
