Seattle- do I need a job first or an apartment?

Travel Info
Ok, I'm thinking of moving to Seattle, but I have a huge question-What's the job market like? I mean, how would I go about getting a job in Seattle, and an apartment... ?
I don't have a whole lot of money to start out, so I need to know whether I should apply for a job while I live out of state, then move, or do the same thing with an apartment? I do need pretty high paying jobs... at least $10 an hour.

Travel Tips
i would recommend getting a job first, unless you'll have the first and last month's rent + deposit, etc. you'll need to get an apartment. housing (as long as you're renting) is fairly easy to find. seattle.craigslist.org is just how people do things around here. if you don't mind living in the north or the south, you should be able to find places rather easily. washington state's minimum wage is right around $8/hr. so $10/hr. jobs are easy to come by, but hard to live on. i'd recommend at least $12/hr. jobs. if you don't mind doing customer support, three major cell phone companies have their western headquarters on the eastside.

in short, jobs are harder to find than housing. seattle is the most educated city in the u.s., so jobs are extremely competetive. Source(s): http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

Other Travel Tips
Seattle is a very expensive place to live. It is a high tech area with Boeing, Microsoft etc. so I would send resume's to prospective employers BEFORE I moved out there. It will cost you a minimum of $2000 just to get into a decent apartment. Good luck and bring a poncho.
I agree that you should find a job first, unless you have friends to stay with. Once you get a job you will have a better idea of where you want to live in relation to your work. It is true that it is expensive to start out and yes you are looking at around $1,500-$2,000 for first-last months rent/deposit.
