Can a New Yorker Survive in Seattle? |
Travel Info I'm thinking about moving there and was wondering what it would be like. I hear that it rains a lot... But I would like to hear more about the culture and quality of life beyond coffee beans and raindrops... Thanks! Travel Tips A NYer can survive anywhere? Though I think anyone would find Seattle an easy place to adjust too. I think of it as the smallest big city in the country not because of its size but the atmoshere. It is alot less cutt-throat than any other big city! The people thier welcome NYers (ONLY IF they leave behind their Yankee hats!!!!). You will find it to be alot cleaner than NY too. Thier is a high Asian population in Seattle but I fail to find any down side to that fact. The cost of living is high but so are the salaries! Did I mention the views, well I'll just say its on a body of water directly between two mountian ranges! Others I don't see why not, I'm from Ohio but I've survived in Florida for eight years now. You just have to adapt. A New Yorker can survive anywhere, the question is why would you?? Its very asian there, and if you can deal with the people, culture, and weather, you should be ok?! Personally, I think NY'ers are much different than west coast people in general, but seattle is a weird mix of everything. That weather is truly and utterly horible though! Why wouldnt you go to Florida instead! If you can survive in New York, you can survive anywhere. If you are ever home sick, go down to SODO, and walk up 3rd Ave. to Belltown. You'll have to step over countless homeless, you'll be panhandled 25 times, and it smells like a cesspit! Oh, and someone might light your hair on fire. I'm really not trying to disparage NY here. Just ranting about things I hate about Seattle. Definately, Seattle is a kind town you will be welcomed here....there is a good night life culture, as well the city is also very big on business, it is very easy to find a job here and is not as cut throat as other cities |
