Why does yakima, WA have so many mexicans? |
Travel Info Why does yakima, WA have so many mexicans? Travel Tips Yakima has a lot but is certainly rivalved by Pasco. Pasco is roughly 70% Mexican. Both are very dependent on agriculture. You can find these workers in higher concentrations wherever crops are located. At one time, most of these workers were migrant workers who moved around to follow the crop harvests. Now many of them live year-round in the same city. Both towns have a huge number of Mexicans living in them. Probably over 25% of them are in the United States illegally. Law enforcement is not pursued because they need them to work in the fields. Personally, I wish they were all here legally. Most of them are very hard working people and they have a very strong family oriented community. Others Apple orchards. Migrant farm workers. so much agriculture work is located over there that is why cherry orchards, but of course that only accounts for the pickers. I think they like the climate. Yakima, Tricities, Moses Lake, all those little dinky towns on the east side of washington have large hispanic populations, they also have large mormon populations. I don't know why anyone would want to live in yakima though, unlike tricities with its wineries, yakima really has no redeming features outside of cherries. |
