Travel Tips
My favorite hike around the Seattle area is called Twin Falls. It is right off the highway near snoqualmie falls. It is a beautiful hike and the waterfalls are amazing! This hike is good for anyone, a great hike to take your dog on! The highlights of this trail are two waterfall-viewing platforms. The upper viewing area is a bridge spanning the South Fork Snoqualmie River and offering great views of the pretty stair-step Upper Twin Falls.

here is some additional info:

Activities: hiking, photography, wildlife watching, naturalist studies, swimming

Age Levels: All ages

Hours from Seattle: 30 minutes
Contact: The Washington State Department of Parks and Recreation, 7150 Cleanwater Lane, Box 42650, Olympia, WA 98504-2650; 1-800-452-5687.

Extra Treats: Watch the woods for an assortment of birds and animals. On hot summer days, swim in the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River below the falls.

Another great one is Dewy Lakes! It is around Mt. Rainier National Park. I understand this is a little farther away from Seattle than you may like, but it is an amazing hike or backpacking trip for you! This hike is best in the Summer or early fall though! The flowers are gorgeous. Many people hike this rather thank backpack, although I have done both and find it very pleasurable both ways! It is about a 2 hour drive from Seattle! Hope this helps! I have always enjoyed Whidbey Island. you either drive, or take a ferry or both. A great way to spend a day.
