Gig Harbor is the 1st town you go thru when you cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, from Tacoma onto the Kitsap Peninsula.

It is about an hour drive to Seattle.

Rt 16 goes right thru the middle of Gig Harbor.

From Seattle, go south to on I-5 to Tacoma, about 30 miles.
When you see the signs that say Rt 16 - Bremerton, take that exit on the right.
After about 10 miles you will cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and *BAM*, you are in Gig Harbor.

It is a nice place. Not a lot to do there.
Very nice place to take pictures of the water and the marina.

Lived there... was a pleasant experience.
If you are looking for a nice apartment, check out the Cliffside Apartments. You may get one with a nice view of the bridges.

Not sure if you found an answer to your question or not, Gig Harbor Wa. is about 20 minutes out of Tacoma.
Gig Harbor is located along Washington State Route 16, about four miles from its origin at Interstate 5, over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
