Cross-country move Memphis to Seattle and would like advice? |
Travel Info Next May (2008) we're moving from Memphis, TN to near Seattle. We (family of five) need to be within 45 minutes of the Seatac Airport because that's where I'll be working. Does anyone know of a decent place to live near the area and perhaps have some advice for the cross country move? We will be living on one income (@50K) so we won't be able to afford too much house, as a matter of fact we plan to rent at first. We definately don't NEED to live in Seattle. What do you know about Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, etc? Thanks, tryingtolearn! Travel Tips SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma International Airport) really does lie within a city called SeaTac, so you might want to try that. It isn't huge, maybe 30,000 people, but a decent suburb. Due to the fact that it is a suburb, rent shouldn't be too high. Des Moines, WA is also really close, and that has some nice houses with a small, but adequate shopping center. Others I grew up in Federal Way, but lately the traffic there SUCKS! they're getting super busy, Kent is great if you're going to be working near the airport, much more affordable. I always kind of think of Auburn as kind of po-dunk, but it would be a bit cheaper to live there. Check out the Des Moines area or Seatac, Burien, Boulevard Park. You would still be very close to work. Good luck! Definately Marysville.... very beautiful.. If you don't want too much commute time, Seatac is your best bet. Marysville is beautiful, but it's also 46 miles north of SeaTac through Everett and Seattle Traffic (which means it could take you hours on a bad day and time). http://www.ci.seatac.wa.us/index.htm... |
