I want to buy a guitar that ship to seattle's post office? |
Travel Info im buying a guitar from muscians friend. and i live in vancouver, how to find address of an nearest post office or is there any other ways? also how much duties i have to pay if i get it ship to canada? thx Travel Tips First, Bellingham would be closer than Seattle, as it's just 20 miles south of the border. Second, rather than using the post office, you could use a packing company like UPS, the Mail Room, etc. They will charge you, but will give you a "REAL" address to use, which I find is easier for shipping items. Third ... there is then the problem of getting the guitar over the border ... you may or may not have problems, but Canada Customs does look for people doing this. There are ways ... but Customs is on to most of them, just FYI. (we have had a few conversations with Canada Customs Agents about this, as we always have our already owned major electronics items stamped before crossing border either way when travelling). As far as how much duty would be owed, it varies depending on the item, where it is manufactured, etc. Even if you call Canada Customs, they probably won't tell you the amount. EDIT: There most definitely IS duty on a guitar, esp a new one. It all depends on the item, cost, etc. Source(s): Hubby is a professional musician, been there done that.
