Where is a good place to live near Seattle if I plan on going to grad school at the University of Washington?

Travel Info
Want to be close to campus, but not near the undergrad scene, preferably a condo, around 1K a month.

Travel Tips
you can rent a studio in seattle for 1k but if you have a car it will cost you another 1k per mouth to park it.
Others
You should try looking for a place across the lake. Bellevue, Redmond, or Kirkland would probably be a good start.
Some neighborhoods to check out include Greenlake, Ballard, and Fremont. But as someone else mentioned, you might not find what you are looking for in those neighborhoods for 1K a month.

Other options to look into include Greenwood (lots of apartments, less charm) and Roosevelt area. Make sure wherever you look has decent bus service to the U district, or you'll be stuck paying for parking on campus to commute - not fun.

The eastside is nice, but then you are dealing with the commute over the lake every day to get to class.
you can live in The U District, not near Greek Row but a little farther away from campus there are nice condos and houses for rent in the lush green neighborhoods, the neighborhood is older so way more trees and nature than in downtown. I have a friend going to graduate school there and that is were he resides and he absolutely loves it there
There really is not a bad place to live in Seattle, it is better to ask where you can afford to live in Seattle.
I'd recommend Wallingford or Fremont. Wallingford has lots of restaurants, a cool indie movie theater, and cool homes with a lot of families and parks. Fremont is known as sort of a hipster industrial area, also with great restaurants, a great co-op grocery store, Sunday Farmer's Markets, cafes, and the famous Naked Bikers Summer Solstice Parade. See this website for descriptions of each of them (it also includes some condo prices):
