Seattle to Bellevue commute?

Travel Info
What would you do? I am starting a job in downtown Bellevue soon and have to decide where to live.

I have friends who are willing to find a house with me near the UW (in the hopes that I could go straight onto the 520 bridge, avoiding I-5). I really want to live with friends and save money rather than by myself on the eastside, but I'm really not looking forward to the commute (especially in the afternoon).

Any advice?

Travel Tips
If you are working early enough in the day, you can miss most of the 520 traffic. I work from 7am-4pm in Redmond and live in Edmonds. If I am going to Seattle, I'll usually leave maybe 15 minutes early, hit a little light traffic around Kirkland to the bridge and then it's pretty good. If you're just going from the U-Dist. to Bellevue, you won't be stuck too far on 520 either.

I actually just started riding bike to commute so I avoid most all traffic now unless I'm hopping on a bus to get somewhere.

I would strongly suggest not driving, rather take advantage of Seattle's excellent public transit system! From the UW area to downtown Bellevue just use Sound Transit express route# 556 or King County Metro route #167 this will save you $$$ and stress! If you ever need to travel between Bellevue & Downtown Seattle you can do so easily via Sound Transit express route #550 Good luck!
You will regret living and working on opposite sides of the water. Do you really want to spend that much of your life stuck in traffic? Or do you want to spend that time living your life?
Seattle and Bellevue are so very well connected with the public transport...And the busses take the HOV lane ,so they travel real fast..not getting stuck in traffic..so you can go ahead and live with friends ...travelling shouldn't be a prob.

Commuting is rediculous.
Go live in Bellevue - you will enloy it.
