What is it like to live in Tacoma, WA? |
Travel Info I'm trying to compare living from Salt Lake City, UT to Tacoma, WA and I'd like as many details and insight as possible! :) Travel Tips Let's see....We are much less crowded than Seattle! We are also spread out more. Right now Hwy 16 and I-5 through the downtown corridor are a mess because of construction...you just need patience to get through it. Without offending you...are you LDS? If so, there is a large LDS Temple on Pearl Street at the corner of 12th Street. Our weather is pretty mild - no blizzards, mild heat waves (people complain when it hits 70-75!), and lots of rain from Oct - Feb. There are lots of places to visit: Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Olympic Mts; Ocean Shores, Long Beach (south of Ocean Shores), Seattle, and over east of the Cascades is Farm country - Apples, Onions, etc. Also along the Columbia River is "The Gorge" - Great Concerts! Are you thinking of moving here? If so, what type of work are you looking for? I could email you a listing of Temp. offices/City sites if you want. Source(s): Lived here my whole life. Other Travel Tips ive lived under a bridge in the back of a pickup truck in tacoma for a while. I must say that the spots we wandered around at night were pretty scummy. They have cleaned up the town quite a bit in the last couple years ive heard though. Even though my living conditions werent the greatest, there was a great view of mt rainier, the weather never really got unbearably cold, and the people werent really much worse than anywhere else, better than new york city in any case. tacoma has a lot of gang problems as does seattle ' but tacoma is even worse, everyday on the news it;s always someone was killed bu gangs.. we have alot of the ms13 gangs and others too...20ys ago there was only a hand ful but now you can't even keep track.....lol I lived there for 15 years and i sometimes miss it cause i live kind of in the counrty about a45 minutes from there now, i miss town life, but as a child going to school there was very good until middle school and thats when there are gangs and girls having babies and such, it wasnt easy to vcome out of Tacoma not involved in crime or drugs, i lived in South Tacoma by the Tacoma mall, the North Tacoma is way better and safer in the historical district i dont ever want to live there agian I basically lived 20 minutes from downtown Tacoma deep in the forest suburbs, so I can't speak for urban Tacoma. Well in this area, there are lots and lots of trees and berries alongside the road. If you live high enough, you have a really nice view of beautiful Mt. Rainier. It's extremely quiet where we lived; it's my sanctuary! It rains often, even throughout the summer. I don't live there anymore though. I moved, but I visit every summer. |
